Nov. 3, 10, 17 & 24, Monday Nights at B.Marie's Atelier & Gallery.
If eyes are the windows to the soul, then how we paint them has incredible power! Eyes have the potential to communicate a tremendous amount of feeling. Because they are so important, it can be easy to try and paint every single detail perfectly. However, sometimes we can give eyes too much clarity or contrast and they don't quite fit into the rest of the portrait. By focusing on the structure of the eye, you can learn to place shapes and values that are essential before choosing how much detail to include. Whether your goal is to capture an accurate likeness or an expressive mood, focusing on eyes is time well spent that will help you when developing a full portrait.
If you aren't a painter, feel free to join us and complete the exercises in the drawing medium of your choice.
