Extended Portrait II
(Mar. 2026)

Mar. 2, 9, 16 & 23, Monday Nights at the Campbell Studio.

Creating a portrait is a challenging subject many artists strive to capture.  It is essential that you give yourself time to adjust, correct and develop a portrait.  All four sessions will be used to create a portrait from a photo reference of your choice in your preferred medium.  Slow down and focus on building shapes, values and relationships first. Having those relationships established makes adding color easier than when you try and do it all at once.

Offering the class in 2 parts provides options to customize your learning.  The previous class (Extended Portrait I) is not a prerequisite for this class. If you begin now, you can choose to draw or paint in color or in black and white and learn a tremendous amount over 4 sessions. Those who do take the first class will have the option to continue to refine their drawing/painting.  To add color, you can choose to transfer or seal a drawing and apply paint.  You can use the black and white as a grisaille underpainting and glaze or paint color directly.
