Painting Landscapes in the Studio
(Nov. 2019)

Ideal for anyone painting in oils who would like to practice within a studio setting and learn from live demonstrations. Topics will include painting from outdoor sketches, creating compositions, and the pitfalls of reference photography. Demonstrations will focus on how to use the building blocks of shapes, values, edges, and colors to improve your landscape paintings.

This class is open to those who have a basic understanding of how to mix color or have some prior knowledge of oil painting tools & supplies.

Instructor: Christy Olsen
Format: Lecture & demonstration. Individual feedback and one-on-one instruction will be provided.
Level: Beginner to Intermediate. All levels are welcome!

Medium: Oil Painting
Technique: Painting in oils with various artistic styles, from realism to abstraction. Students are encouraged to bring in their own reference photographs to use for practice.
Materials: The instructor will email the materials list before the first day of class. Note: During each session, please use Gamsol or odorless mineral spirits and dispose of oily or solvent-soaked rags into the red non-flammable marked containers.
