Explore the fascinating unbounded medium of encaustic! If you've ever been curious, this two-day workshop will teach you how to create luminous paintings using heated, pigmented beeswax.
Beginners to intermediates are welcome! Learn the process, recipes, equipment, and studio setup needed to practice with encaustic. Discover the history of this ancient medium and learn techniques that date back thousands of years.
Demonstrations will include texture, substrates, grounds surface techniques, collage, mixed media, and 3-D applications with plenty of individuals one on one instruction. Use of all equipment, tools, and some consumable materials will be included.
Meets: (2) Days on Saturday & Sunday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (1-hour lunch break each day)

Materials: Class includes all use of encaustic equipment, tools, & all consumable materials. Bring notebook paper, pen or pencil. Several images of your favorite artist's work, an image of any of your own favorite artwork (to share your artistic sensibility). Wear or bring an apron and closed-toed shoes to work in the studio.
