Painting Essentials: Expressive Brushwork
(Nov. 2021)

Do you want to loosen up and achieve an expressive quality in your paintings? It may be trickier than it looks. In this class, we will begin with monochromatic sketches in paint so you can focus on brush control and expressive mark-making.

We'll make each brushstroke count! We will also discuss strategies to prepare your palette and focus on developing general shapes, values, and colors as a whole Your painting will soon feel "complete" at various stages, an essential skill for artists working under time constraints, like when painting from a live model or working to capture the light and shadow cast from the moving sun.
